3 Differences from Solaris 11.3¶
The procedures and user interface for the Trusted Extensions Desktop (TED) are essentially the same as the version that was delivered in Oracle Solaris 11.3. The minor differences are summarized below:
3.1 Troubleshoot Login Problems¶
See the Solaris 11.3 guide for information about the following:
The following description of failsafe sessions does not apply to TED :
If you can become root, log in to a failsafe session. In a standard login, the shell initialization files are sourced at startup to provide a customized environment. In a failsafe login, the default values are applied to your system and no shell initialization files are sourced. In Trusted Extensions, a failsafe login is protected. Only the root account can access a failsafe login.
- Type your username in the login screen.
- At the bottom of the screen, choose Solaris Trusted Extensions Failsafe Session from the desktop menu.
- When prompted, provide your password.
- When prompted for an additional password, provide the password for root.
3.2 How to Lock and Unlock Your Screen¶
See the Solaris 11.3 guide for information about the following:

3.3 Managing Snapshots From a File Manager¶
The user interface for managing snaphots was removed from the nautilus File Manager in Solaris 11.4. This functionality has been restored in TED and is available in the caja File Manager. See the Solaris 11.3 document How to View the Available Snapshots in File Manger.
